Contemp – Explore the Ruins of an Abandoned House

Contemp is a short horror story where you explore an abandoned house. You drive up and look back, your headlights in the distance. You find the key in the shed and make your way in. It was supposed to be abandoned, but it seems the power is working. The lights are on, so what’s happening?

You can walk through the house and look around. There’s quite a few photo’s. Some of them look pretty creepy, but they don’t show anything important. There’s really no other items to look for either, you just need to find 1 key once you’re inside. Going through a few doors, you hear some noise in the background. Did another door open? Maybe you aren’t so alone.

Taking around 10 minutes to play, Contemp is a neat little horror story. It was fun to explore, and it had an excellent atmosphere that really makes it feel like there’s someone else with you in this creepy abandoned house.

There’s not much backstory though. How did you get there and what are you looking for? If there was a bit more of an explanation, it would have greatly improved the immersion. The steps were a bit odd too, when you start walking, the same walk style starts over again.

The creator Micaka, says the game is a result of his project as a computer graphic artist at Luleå Technical University. You can also play the game in VR! In VR mode, you can only walk around and aren’t able to interact with anything. Try it out using SteamVR (Vive), or an emulator that supports it.
