Security Booth – A Creepy PS1 Style Horror Game

Security Booth is a horror game about a security guard working for a massive corporation. It’s late at night and the company Nova Nexus has called their employees in for an emergency. You have to make sure you don’t let the wrong people in. At first, the game is pretty slow and boring. That is, until an unsuspected visitor comes by and stares at you from the distance.

As the game goes on, you should look out for any random notes that appear. They reveal a lot of important information about the experiments and characters involved. It’s a short story about the company running experiments and apparently it ended up in the demise of one of their employee’s “Natasha Singh”.

The game only every vaguely describes what type of experimentation is going on. We can conclude they conduct human experiments though. They also sacrificed at least one of their own employees. One of the more creepy parts is where the ghost car shows up, and just says “help me…” Looking up the license plate, it turns out to be Natasha. When you turn to go back, the car is gone.

The game does seem pretty bland at first, and all you do is check the first few cars with nothing special happening. After the notes show up, and more of the story is told, it becomes more immersive.

Closing Thoughts and Review

You should definitely give it a chance even if you don’t like the beginning. It’s another one of these horror games that you experience a story, rather than having a lot of gameplay. The mysterious stranger, the ghost car, ghost voice, and bloody hand print are some of it’s best moments.

There’s two different endings depending on who you let in. If you let the “Death” car in, then you’ll get to see the much more dramatic ending. The other is less eventful, but still a good scare. Overall, Security Booth is a fun and creepy short horror game. I always like to see these itch.io games make use of the PS1 style graphics.
