Descent – Escape a Spider Infested Space Ship

In Descent, we play as the last surviving crew member of the VALIS XI space ship. We start off in a small room and quickly discover a dead crew member on the ground in the next room. Whatever happened here, it’s clearly time to leave. Many parts of the ship are sealed, and there’s something lurking around. Be careful where you go.

There’s a bunch of notes lying around in certain rooms, make sure to walk over to anything with a glowing circle. They’ll give you hints you’ll need to make your way through the ship. Many of the doors are sealed and you’ll need to shut down generators if you want to keep moving. Eventually you’ll find you way to some large glass tanks, some broken, some in tact. In those ones, we have gigantic spiders… classic. These space crews will make the same kind of mistakes forever.

Although short, Descent has a great space ship and aliens concept with an ending that lets you keep playing. The graphics are a unique kind of pixel art I haven’t seen before. Although it’s still so low res, it looks good and you can still tell what’s going on. The controls were hard to get used to at some points. Sometimes the arrow key feels like it should lead in another direction. That’s just a small bump to get over though, everything else is well done.
