PAINBOY – Short Detective Horror Game Teaser

PAINBOY is a short horror game where you play the role of a lone detective exploring a suspicious house. You were just promoted to lieutenant of Palms Ville in California. A phone call that same evening brings you to the house. What you find there will forever change your life.

You come in the house through the living room and start looking around. Make sure to check out everything you can, there’s actually a few good clues early on. There’s also some glowing red paint on the walls. Who did that, and what do the symbols mean?

It’s not revealed yet what you find inside the house, besides the maniac that confronts you. It introduces the story and concept well though. A lot of the passages are well written and memorable.

“Since Mother Nature has always told us that we are free to be happy within the stage built by her, but she has forgotten to tell us that she granted the same freedom to monsters.”

Although currently a short teaser, PAINBOY has a unique art style and interesting story. One thing I didn’t like is that you can’t look up or down at all. I did like how the story was slowly told as you explore the house, and how you could inspect most items though.

The English is a bit rough at some points, but I can still understand what the creator means to say. Their native language is Italian so there was bound to be a little bit of error. I would definitely like to see more of this game in the future. They planned to make the full game into 5 parts.
