The Keeper – Discover the Mysteries of an Abandoned Lighthouse

You wake up in your fishing boat after a long night out and decide it’s time to head home. However, a rocky shore suddenly appears out of the fog. In The Keeper, you must discover the mystery of this small lighthouse island that you crashed landed on. Why is the light off? You could’ve been killed! There’s a man standing still right in front of you, but before you can get close he’s already gone.

It’s best we find our way up there and turn the beacon back on so others don’t crash like you did. You should take your time and explore the island. There’s a lot of notes lying around that will tell you more about the story, and everything looks so beautiful. Going through the shed and house, you can definitely tell something is off. It seems someone might’ve been here not too long ago, but at the same time it’s a bit run down and their belongings are scattered about.

The Keeper Story Explained

It’s a pretty straightforward game mostly about exploration and the story. Putting together all of the extra notes we find, we can piece the story together at the end. It seems we’ve gone full circle. This whole time we were a wandering spirit who made it back to a place where our darkest days happened. The shadow in the beginning is another instance of ourselves. It seems our family met their demise here and we could never accept it.

The Keeper is a PS1 style horror game with a beautiful atmosphere and a sad story about loss. The graphics were colorful and looked like they were a step above the usual Haunted PS1 style graphics. The foggy night background with the bright moon in the distance was a wonderful sight. Created for the Haunted PS1 Summer of Shivers 2021 Game Jam.
