Midnight Snack – Wake up for Chicken Wings and TV

You wake up in the middle of the night and can’t fall back asleep because you’re so hungry! In Midnight Snack you take a trip to the fridge to get some chicken wings so you can go back to sleep.

You can walk around and explore the house a bit. Make sure you look around your room first, there’s a very important note lying on your desk. Also check your phone for a really creepy text. According to the game’s description, you’re playing as a 12 year old girl who was left home by her mom. I didn’t know that at first and thought the texts were a prank. So the contact name being “Father” who sent them, is especially creepy.

It’s possible that’s the explanation for the pig monster at the end. Or the dev just meant for that to be a creepy extra. The final part of the game has you panicking to open a lock. You have to use the combination for your moms note! It’s the most stressful bit, and you only have 7 seconds to do it.

Although short, Midnight Snack is a creative and fun horror game with a lonely but calm atmosphere. It takes around 5 minutes to play through if you don’t get caught by the pig. The creaking of the stairs, and other small details like the three neat TV channels are the kind things I like to see in these games. It really gives it the feel of an indie game the creator cares about.

There’s quite a few other games that share the same name, so make sure you search for the right one which was made by bricchi.
