Peter’s House is an indie horror game where you help a serial killer move into his new house. Right from the start we get a look at the eerie smiling figure of Peter who calls to ask for our help. After searching some unmarked boxes, it turns out there’s a dark secret that Peter is hiding… with low effort.
Most of the game is mundane horror, up until the last few boxes in each stack. Basically… yes it’s a box moving game. Left being in the unmarked boxes however is a horrifying story of a man who can’t control his anger and fury. Dude left behind all of his evidence in plain sight. Even a severed face! You get to slowly uncover the dark and horrifying story of Peter through his left behind journals.
For a short horror game, Peter’s House is nicely detailed, unsettling, and has a good story. It doesn’t rely on jump scare horror and has some seriously chilling moments. The best part was coming into the house when it was dark and seeing that scary as hell figure peeking in from the kitchen. Highly recommended for any indie horror game fan. The PS1 graphics are crisp and fitting, and really helps set the atmosphere.
